Aslan
This rug is hand-woven in Markazi, Persia, in the early-19th century. It is antique rug and one of the most beautiful rugs in our collection.
Aslan is the Turkish word for lion. Aslan is a character in C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia. He is a talking lion, the king of the animals, the son of the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea, and a magical sultan (both worldly and spiritual). Aslan is also a noble, kind, and compassionate guide to the human children who are the caretakers and protectors of the land of Narnia. The rug is characterized by its silky forest designs, which are reminiscent of the rebirth of nature. The rug is also made from fine wool and has been knotted with symmetric Turkish.
